Lawsuit filed against 2015 Amendment to the 2007 Military Lending Act

According to an article by the online publication Courthouse News Service, a lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in hopes of invalidating a 2015 Amendment to the 2007 Military Lending Act that would require pawnbrokers to check via an internet military database whether borrowers are members of the military or a dependent of a member of the military.

Pawnshops that do not comply with the new rules, which go into effect Oct. 3, 2016, face civil and criminal penalties.
